Dave Waddell
President

Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County, WA

Dave has been a member of NAHMMA since 2001 and a member of the Board since 2005. He chaired the Training Committee from 2006 to 2010 when he became President of the Board. He has been a presenter and trainer at every NAHMMA national conference since 2002.  Dave's full-time work for the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County, Washington, focuses on high-hazard chemicals found in laboratories and schools and on chemical hazards that pose risks to artists. He's been an environmental professional since 1985. During his spare time, he works with other states and other counties in Washington State to train teachers and school administrators on managing risks from hazardous chemicals and conducting school chemical cleanout projects through his company Waddell Environmental LLC.


Al Gomez
Vice President

 

Pollution Prevention, Remediation and Air Quality Division.

Al Gomez has been a member since 2005 and elected to the Board in 2007. He has served as a member of the Training Committee and is currently the Chairperson for the Chapters Committee. He is a founding member of the Florida-Caribbean Chapter and served as president and currently serves on the NAHMMA National Board as vice president. Al has degree in Environmental Studies from Florida International University.  He has worked for the last twenty five years in Broward County government in the areas of solid waste and environmental permitting and compliance. For the past nineteen years, he has worked at Broward County’s Pollution Prevention, Remediation and Air Quality Division. Al serves as Team Coach, managing multi-media inspectors conducting storage tank, SQG, and P2 inspections.  In his spare time you can catch all playing tennis, boating or at the beach.

 

 


Gena McKinley
Secretary

Houston-Galveston Area Council

Gena has been a member since 2005 and on the board since 2008. She works in the Sustainable Development Program for H-GAC. Her responsibilities include coordinating with local governments on environmental issues and source reduction and recycling projects, administrating state solid waste grants, and coordinating educational workshops.

Mike O'Donnell
Treasurer

PaintCare

 

Mike has been an active national board member since 2005 and has also been treasurer of the Pacific NW NAHMMA Chapter. He works for PaintCare, a not-for-profit organization created by the American Coatings Association to manage post-consumer paint though product stewardship programs.  Mike has over 18-years experience managing all types of HHW collection program contracts from small rural collections to complex interagency fixed facility services.

Cheryl has been involved with the NAHMMA board for over 8 years and one of her first presentations on batteries was at an early NAHMMA conference. She joined RBRC in 2000 and has recently become their Safety and Compliance Manger.


Greg Boe


Senior Environmental Health Specialist
Scott
County (MN) Environmental Health Dept.

Greg is the Household Hazardous Waste program manager for Scott County, Minnesota, where he has worked since 1996.  Serving a population of just over 120,000 people (up 45% in the last 10 years), the Scott County program collects around 1,000,000 lbs of HHW from 8,000 participants each year.

Greg has been a NAHMMA member since 1999, and is currently the Chair of their Communications Committee. He is also a member and past president of the MN Chapter of NAHMMA. Greg views NAHMMA as a valuable tool for members - a tool that can help each of us perform our jobs more efficiently and effectively, by building contacts through networking and with active sharing of our ideas and our expertise.  He urges all members to become and remain active in the organization.

Ionie Wallace


Ionie Wallace was elected to the Board in 2011 and has been a NAHMMA member since 1997. She is vice president of the California Chapter and has served on the training committee that she currently chairs for many years. Ionie Is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist and Supervising Hazardous Materials Specialist for the San Bernardino County Household Hazardous Waste program.  Ionie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science from California State University, San Bernardino, and the Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management from the University of California Extension, Riverside.  Additionally, she holds a Diploma in Public Health from the West Indies School of Public Health and a Certificate in Community Health from the University of the West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica.  She is also a California Specialized Training Institute certified instructor and OSHA authorized instructor for 10 and 30-hour general industry safety courses. Ionie co-authored the 24-hour HHW/CESQG operations training manual which is currently one of the texts used in the SWANA/NAHMMA 24-hour HHW/CESQG waste management class.

 


Kelly Freeman


Capital Area Council of Governments

Kelly Freeman is the Solid Waste Program Manager for the Capital Area Council of Governments, a regional planning entity serving the 10 county area surrounding Austin, Texas.  Kelly was a founding member of the Lone Star Chapter of NAHMMA, and is the past President and current Secretary for the Lone Star Chapter.


Teresa Gilbertson


Minnesota Pollution Control Agency

Teresa is currently on the Training Committee and has served as President of the MN NAHMMA Chapter. She has a degree in Biology, is employed by MN Pollution Control Agency and has work history that includes 20 years experience in the Household Hazard Waste (HHW) arena. She provides statewide oversight for HHW programs, specializing in operations and DOT, OSHA, RCRA and hazardous categorization training. Teresa also assists Minnesota’s Law Enforcement agencies to establish pharmaceutical consolidation sites.


Jeff Gloyd


Waste Management

Jeff is the Manager of Community Programs for Waste Management Healthcare Solutions (WMHS) and Chair of the NAHMMA Affiliations Committee. He gained HHW experience while managing a regional collection program in Wisonsin  With Waste Management, Jeff is developing and promoting sustainable options for consumer sharps programs and medication collection programs.  Being part of WMHS enables Jeff to assist communities and partners in managing sharps and pharmaceutical waste effectively.  Jeff’s education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health Education and a Master’s Degree in Public Health.  He can be reached at 713.394.5161 or at jgloyd@wm.com.

 


Victoria Hodge


City of Denton

Victoria supervises the HHW program in Denton, TX.  She has been focusing on pharmaceutical take back issues and is the project manager for Denton Drug Disposal Day www.dentondrugdisposal.com which partners with many government agencies and private corporations. At this time she chairs the Membership committee and participates on the strategic planning, communications, affiliations and sponsorship committees.

Earth 911

As a representative of Earth911, I was first exposed to NAHMMA at the 2007 conference in San Diego. Since that time I have been able to attend and present at subsequent conferences and work with many NAHMMA members on promoting their HHW collection programs via the Earth911 platform.


Kelby Neal

Kelby has been a member of NAHMMA since 2001 and was elected to the board in 2006. His current employer is PSC and he started working in the hazardous waste disposal field in 1996 for Ensco.


Fred Gabriel


Clean Harbors

Fred was elected to the NAHMMA board in 2011 and has been a member since 2007.  He started in the hazardous waste industry in 1993 and worked his first HHW event in 1997. Fred is presently employed by Clean Harbors as the Director of Marketing with a focus on services provided to state and local governments.  He looks forward to helping NAHMMA stay relevant in the professional lives of its members.

 

 


Rita Perini


I have been employed with Brevard County since March 1985.  Since 1992 I have been the Supervisor and Manager of the Solid Waste Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Program. My responsibilities include the management of the County’s three permanent HHW collection centers, and the bi-annual HHW mobile collection events (removed from the budget in 2009).  I oversee a staff of five Hazardous Materials technicians. With a County population of 532,000, we consistently service well over 28,000 residents a year at the three permanent HHW centers and average 800 participants a day at the mobile collection events.  

I have managed numerous Unique and Innovative grants from the FDEP, including the establishment of one of the first permanent HHW collection centers in Florida, construction of a state of the art HHW collection center (1996) and a pilot project for the collection and management of End-of-Life Electronics. 

I have been a member of NAHMMA since 2001. I am a founding member of the Florida Caribbean NAHMMA Chapter (2006) and I have served as the chapter Vice president and President. Currently I am the Membership Committee Chair of the Florida Caribbean NAHMMA Chapter.  In November 2009, I was elected to the National NAHMMA Board of Directors Executive Committee and serve as a Chapters Committee co-chair.
